There are so many different emotions and concepts screaming for attention in this game. The links to the developer's previous project, Rot, are also welcome... if only because having a little bit of familiarity amidst the madness is oddly comforting.

From sly digs at certain governments and their cuts in funding, to  a strange number-based experiment to absolute hell and back, all within the space of half an hour. It's honestly one of the strangest and horrifying rides I've ever been on, with a faint ray of hope appearing right at the end of it all.

Michael really has a talent for taking raw feelings and throwing them into an interactive story format. While this may not have as much creeping horror as Rot did, there's still a lot to enjoy (if that's the right word!) with this one.

So, first thing to do is head over to the page for Rot and play that before this one. Just to get yourself into the right (or wrong?) frame of mind before diving into this thought experiment.

It's another thumbs-up from me, I can't remember the last time a game left me with equal feelings of despair and hope.

Mikey! Just finished watching the let's play and I have to say thanks so much for your kind words and continued support, it means so much and I'm glad to have seen your channel grown since Rot too!

Hope you and yours are doing well in these crazy times, and I hope to be able to swing more games your way soon my friend <3

(+1)

A very awesome game hope you like the thumb nail.

Hey Jaboblu! I'm really chuffed that WDTAI was your first video! That's awesome, man, and I love the thumbnail! Hope to see your channel grow and hopefully I can bring more games your way soon :) Subbed!

(+1)

Thank you I appreciate it,  I hope you to see your game grow.  I really love passionate game developers your awesome.

(+1)

I didn't cry I swear

(-1)

I get that this is meant to be an art piece more than a game, but having multiple segments where there's nothing to do other than spin in place doesn't make for a great game, and I don't see how it really helps with delivering the message of the piece. It's... fine for what it is, but it's definitely lacking in terms of taking advantage of the medium.

(+1)

Hey creator I loved both your games!  Keep making them!

Hey slackattack21! Thanks so much for let's playing WDTAI, it really means a lot and I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I think someone in your comments section also enjoyed and that makes me super happy! Hopefully I can bring more games your way soon :)

(+1)

Played this immediately after playing Rot and I'm impressed. I made a playthrough for each games. It's funny how many details I've missed while playing and it was still an intense experience. I must admit it was pretty late. Or early.

Good work, can't wait to play what you do next!

Hey Johnny! Apologies for the late reply, just been a bit busy the past few days, but I wanted to thank you for taking the time to let's play both my horror games! Your support means a lot and I appreciate it so much. I saw your analysis at the end of the let's play and I'm really glad that there are elements you enjoyed, and I totally take on board your more constructive criticisms. Hopefully I can get you some more games soon in the future! Subbed :)

(+1)

pretty neat game! and one of the few games to give me a few jumpscares good job!

Hey Oracle! Sorry for the late reply, just been busy, but wanted to say thanks for let's playing WDTAI, it really means a lot :) glad to hear you enjoyed it too! Hopefully I can bring more games your way soon

(+1)

Very artistic and creepy! Well done, I really enjoyed playing this game!

Hey STEVIED! Sorry for the late reply, just been busy recently, but wanna say thanks so much for bringing WDTAI to your audience, it really means a lot to me and I appreciate it <3 also glad to see that you enjoyed the game!

No problem! Thanks for making the game!

can you use controller

(1 edit)

Hey Panzer! Unfortunately not at the moment :( I am not so good with Unity yet, this is only my second game in it aha, but I will update you ASAP if I implement this in the future!

Developer,

I usually do lots of edits to make my videos funnier or goofy but with this one I just couldn't do it.  I felt that it would take away from the experience that is expressed in the simulation.  I say simulation because it felt less like a game and more of a deep internal expression.

It really touched me in ways.  The last few minutes are my take on it, which are expressed as I progress towards the end.  Thank you for sharing your secret with us.

Hey L! Sorry for the lateness of my reply, just been busy these past few days. But, I just had a look at your let's play and I have to say that it means the world to me when people find meaning in and connect with my games. I was very touched at your reaction to the end and I'm so glad you could find meaning in it. Subbed!

(+1)

Very cool! Thank You. I made a lil video and yes I actually read the French, haha

Hey Elrenia! Sorry for the late reply, just been busy these past few days! But I watched the end of your let's play and I have to say thanks so much for bringing the game to your audience, it means a lot to me <3 And I'm so glad you enjoyed the game! Subbed :)

hai! Np at all! That was awesome. Feel free to reach out to me anytime < 3

Dude, this game was brilliant. An absolute masterpiece! I'm only 13, but I felt a big theme of love, and wanting to be free from it (I assume that's the message). I even made a video on it, and I definitely got scared. The ending was absolutely amazing and very abstract. I hope you make more games like this!

Hey P3an3t! Thanks so much for your kind words :) I really just made this game on the side of my uni work in my bedroom so I'm touched to know that you enjoyed it so much! The theme of love is definitely present in both games but they mean a lot of different things to different people, so I'm open to any interpretation! Hopefully I can make more games for you soon! Good luck with the channel <3

Thanks for the kind words, sadly, the audio got messed up so I couldn't post the video, but I will make a video on your other game Rot! Cannot wait for other games you make!!!

hi, big thx for the cool disturbing game. greetings from rosti

(+1)

Surreal and unconfortable but a really good little horror game! Glad to see the Burberry cap make a return!

(+1)

Hey MADGaming! Thanks so much for your continued support over the two games, let's plays really help the games grow a lot so I'm really grateful that you've returned for this game too! Cool to see you enjoyed :)

(+1)

I played this game after being awake for almost 36 hours so I was pretty sleep deprived and genuinely hallucinated in the middle of playing it. All I can say is that the term "Psychological Horror" is just the perfect way to describe this game, this game was far beyond "a lot".  It was really awesome to play!  Well done!

Hey Andy-R! Just finished watching your let's play and the end really made me laugh I have to admit hahaha, hope you got a good night's sleep in the end ;)

Thank you! I really appreciate that! I did sleep very well that night haha. I'm hoping to play more of your games in the future! I'm most certainly gonna play Rot as well, hopefully somewhere next week!

(+1)

Very strange and confusing. Hope that's what you were going for :)

enjoyed it though. Gonna have to check out Rot soon, think I did that the wrong way though.

(+1)

Hey RobBoberty! Haha yeah my games are definitely more weird and trippy than a lot, thanks for taking the time to make a let's play :) really appreciate it

(+1)

Hey, I did a video on both Rot and We Don't Talk About It. Both great games, this one is my favorite. I gave my thoughts at the end, hope I didn't totally misinterpret what was going on. Looking forward to future content!

Hey RavencrowProductions! Thanks so much for doing a bumper let's play of BOTH my Unity games :) it really helps the games grow so I really really appreciate it. I also saw what you had to say at the end and I'm so glad you spent the time to really talk it over and that you enjoyed the games! Subbed to you, hope to find some cool indie horror games from your channel :)

(+1)

This game was something else. Almost lost my shit at the end.

(+1)

Hey FoleyX90! Just checked out your let's play and I have to say that I'm really chuffed you enjoyed We Don't Talk About It, it really means a lot <3 I checked out your page and Fever Cabin looks awesome! That's the kind of mechanical stuff I can never get my head around haha. Just followed you, hope to find more games from you in the future!

(+1)

Thanks for the follow bud! I'd love to talk about a collab or something. My strong suits are atmosphere, programming and modeling (to some extent) and I'm pretty good at coming up with general concepts for story but I fall short when it comes to details & tying it all together. I think we could compliment eachother quite well in that regard :)

Just thinking out loud!

(+1)

That would be awesome man! At the moment I am finishing university but for my next project I would love to do something more mechanically intensive, maybe an FPS or something, so I'll definitely hit you up for that! Also, if you feel you need any assistance or that I could add something to your projects, let me know! My Twitter is @smashing_cravat :)

(+3)

One of the most profound indie horror game experiences I've ever had. I was lost for words a bit by the end of it. Artistically beautiful, with a gripping story and jarring, yet carefully constructed pacing. This is a masterpiece. Well done!!!

(+1)

Hey Adrionic! Just finished watching your let's play and I have to say that I'm really touched by your kind words... I just made this game on the side of my university work in my bedroom so it means the world to me that you could connect with it on this level!

re: the ending- yes! I did kind of intend for it to be uplifting, to me it is a happy moment and I'm glad that came across for you :) but other people have different interpretations and that's totally cool too! Subbed :)

(+2)

Perhaps my favorite indie game of all time, or at least top five material. This game is just an outstanding work of art. It's both horrifying, atmosheric, beautiful, and meaningful. Great job to the developers, as in the span of twenty minutes of gameplay, you made me feel such a variety of emotions. I really liked the graphic style as well. And if you feel bad about a comment or two about your games (or artwork in general), please change that. You could make the perfect game, and people would still bash it. It sucks either way, I know, but there's no need to worry about that when your game is able to touch many other peoples' hearts on such a deep level (and/or scare them lol). So what if it doesn't click for a few others? Great job guys, keep creating, and keep improving :)

(+1)

Wow, ad80alien, this is high praise! I really just made this game in my uni bedroom with the help of a few friends so I'm really flattered to know you appreciate the game so much! You are totally right about feedback and such haha, I guess in a way this game was a part of me coming to terms with that.

P.S. ... I thought I recognised your username! I remember seeing The Pomeranian on itch a while back and I have to say, a playthrough that I watched of it really made me laugh haha. You know, there are two frontiers of games development that I think are particularly challenging and quite unexplored... games that make you laugh and games that are sensitive to romance. The Pomeranian may have been short but it was really cute and funny for what it was, which is so hard to do! Games are uniquely troublesome when it comes to comedy... and it's refreshing that devs like you are pushing and pulling at it.

Just followed you, hope to see more games from you soon, whatever it is that you make! <3

(+1)

I appreciate that so much! Honeslty, The Pomeranian was just a weird idea that I decided to push out over the span of a weekend. Despite what many might think though, it did take many many hurs of just sitting on my computer to finally complete. I am happy that you were able to get a good laugh out of it. I am also gald you were able to come to terms with negative feedback too by the way, as it is a hard thing to do. It's within human nature to think longer upon that one negative comment you had, rather than that one nice comment you had. And games like yours seem to really push for creative and new ideas/topics. Your game is unlike anything I have ever played on this site, and I have played a lot of games on here. I know I'm just basically repeating my initial comment here, but you and your friends achieved something great. I appreciate the follow too, as I am in the process of making another game ;). Unlike the other, I plan for this one to be just pure horror, rather than horror-parody. Whether it turns out to be scary, or not, I hope you enjoy it, as I'm honestly honored to have you as one of my followers. Once again, keep creating, and keep improving Michael!

Hey cmodplays! Thanks for taking the time to make a let's play of We Don't Talk About It, it really helps the game grow. I remember you let's played Rot as well, so thank you for your continued support! It means a lot :) Good to see your channel growing!

(1 edit) (+1)

saw your interview with my buddy "the fringe" so i had to give it a go. I was not dissapointed.

(+1)

Hey LordofNope! Just finished your let's play and I'm really glad you enjoyed the game :) let's playing helps the game grow so much and I really appreciate it! The thumbnail you ended up using is awesome haha

(+2)

One of the best games I've ever played. Excellent story, visuals, and voice acting.

Thanks Arsinimusic! That's really high praise, wow... I'm really glad that We Don't Talk About It spoke to you so much :) just checked out your page and I think that Humiliate Me is a really interesting multimedia project. Followed you and would be interested to see more!

(+1)

omg wow thank you so much!! I don't know if I'll orchestrate another game or not, but maybe because of this comment, I will. 😂 Its a fun reply to use too for people bullying me. I just say, to continue bullying me, please go here.

(+1)

I'm not sure I understand it. I don't know If I'm supposed to. It was interesting nonetheless.

(+1)

Hey Chromaray! Thanks for taking the time to let's play We Don't Talk About It, it really helps the game grow so I'm really thankful for it :) haha, my games are quite abstract and half the time I don't even know what I'm specifically trying to say, I more try to aim for metaphor and atmosphere so don't worry if nothing was obvious!

(+1)

It's a good game.

(+1)

Hey TUD! Thanks so much for let's playing We Don't Talk About It, it really helps me out and I appreciate it :) Good to see that overall you had a positive opinion of the game, hopefully I can provide you with more soon!

(+1)

This game is worth talking about it, hah. Thanks for creating the game for everyone to play, it seems popular lately.

Hey fattmat! Thanks so much for taking the time to make a let's play, it really helps the game grow and I'm super grateful :) The applause at the end was very touching haha, you guys have a super cute channel!

(+1)

This game was so well made and always had me thinking, really really great job!

Hey B3AN1026! Thanks so much for the kind words and I really appreciate you taking the time to let's play! It really helps me out, you're the best!

(+1)

We're just a couple of guys helping each other out man, and you're the best! 😁

(+1)

After playing through Rot I went directly into your new game and from the start I really didn't know how it would wrap in the events of Rot, but when it did it was a very smart moment. I do think the horror plays out well and I love how the underlying story, which I think is very powerful, exists regardless of what we're playing which really blows my mind. I thought the final moments and the overall messaging was powerful, I did speak to what I thought this whole piece was about at the end of the video. I can relate to a lot the player character experiences both in Rot and the sequel.

Both games true pieces of art and it's moments like this that make me dig through Itchio to find the devs that are really pushing the limits of storytelling or gameplay and I feel like you do both. Seriously, love it.
(+2)

Hey Jordan! I have to say, thank you so much for your kind words about the projects... to me, the best games initiate some dialogue about the concepts they explore and to know that you connect with a lot of the material, for me, validates the games as successful. I really only made this game on the side of my university work in my bedroom so I'm really thankful to know that it speaks to people like you <3

I watched the ending and what you had to say and please don't feel that I resent people who try and infer what my games mean! I am really happy that people find meaning in my games whatever that might be, those comments in the gallery section were more to show how I view my own works inextricably with their receptions. Which isn't even a bad thing really!

Anyway, really glad you found meaning in my game, that means the world to me! Hopefully I can provide you with more games soon :)

(+2)

Thanks for agreeing to do this interview Micheal, Really great game, was great to get some inside info 😀 Hope this project continues to go well for you !

Hey friend! No problem at all, it my was my pleasure! Think it's awesome that you want to give a voice to smaller devs and I can't wait to see the next interview :) peace!

(+1)

This game was well made! Very creepy and  very interesting! 100/100

Hey JangleX! Thanks so much for taking the time to let's play We Don't Talk About It, it really helps the game grow and I appreciate it :)

(+1)

I was not expecting the amount of emotional reaction this game would generate and it really got me in the end. This is why I play indie games and video games in general. This was a special experience and I encourage everyone check this out.

Hey Jacob! Just finished watching your let's play, gotta say I'm really touched that the game had so much meaning to you. I just made this game on the side of my university work in my bedroom so it really means so much that it moved you this way. Thank you so much for recording a let's play and I wish you good luck with the channel! Subbed :)

(+1)

Fantastic game, really immersive story telling,  5 stars obviously!  😀

Thanks for the interview Michael! Will be posting my interview later today after editing!

Really hope this game does well !

Hey man! Just wanna reiterate thanks so much for posting a gameplay vid to your channel and it was great to talk to you the other day! I'll get right to the interview now :)

(+1)

This game is very interesting

Hey Ryel! Thanks so much for taking the time to let's play the game, really means a lot :) Hope you enjoyed!

The game was great! Keep up the good work

(+1)

This game was something else. It is so good I dont think I can upload it to my channel. The game was beautiful but also terrifying at the same time. I loved it so much and it for some reason makes me love life so much more. Thank you developer.

Hey JekhiGaming! Thanks so much for your kind words, I just made this game in my bedroom on the side whilst studying at University so it means the world to me that it can be so meaningful to you. Please don't feel that you couldn't upload it to your channel for my sake, I am thankful for every let's play that people have the kindness to make! Otherwise, thanks so much and I wish you good luck with your channel :)

Hey Soulbarrier! Thanks so much for taking the time to let's play We Don't Talk About It, I love the thumbnail hahaha. Also, great to hear you had a positive opinion of the game! Really appreciate it :)

Uhhh... theres a bug where if I climb on top of the chair it glitches me in the stair area and I get stuck..

Oh dear! Thanks for pointing this out, I think you and another have noticed this so far. Sorry about that! At the moment, since I make these games on the side of my university work, I am quite snowed under but if I patch the game soon I will certainly address this. Even though it is inconvenient, I think you can wiggle back to the main room for the time being if you hit a certain angle haha

(+1)

Not a typical horror game.
(+1)

This game was well made! Very creepy and the voice acting is quite good. Wouldn't mind a small puzzle here and there just to keep me busy while listening to the monologue. Thanks for sharing your game!

Hi Beardsmeard! Thanks so much for let's playing the game, it helps out the game a lot and I really appreciate it. In terms of player involvement, I totally get your note and my next games will be more mechanically involved I think

(+1)

Really unsettling game, nice work.

Hey ProofreadFire! Thanks so much for let's playing the game, it really helps the game grow and I appreciate it! I remember you were also one of the first people to let's play Rot so I'm doubly thankful for your continued support :)

(+1)

I always love when I play a horror game and get hit with some weird or unexpected stuff it always interesting a nice twist I wasn’t completely sure what was going on 😂

Hey RyshouJ! Thanks so much for let's playing We Don't Talk About It, it really helps the game out and I appreciate a lot! Good to hear that you thought it was cool, means a lot <3
